How to get there:
Book your flight from San Diego-San Jose Costa Rica or LAX-San Jose Costa Rica. We noticed that it is a little easier when the flight is from San Diego. Taking a Red Eye flight Friday Night gets you into San Jose early morning Saturday.
Once you are in San Jose, take a short flight from San Jose International Airport to Tambor (we have been using Nature Air). Once you are in Tambor, a Taxi can take you to your final Destination.
The airlines we have used are FRONTIER.COM for the international flight and NATUREAIR.COM for the domestic flight in Costa Rica.
Coming back to San Diego, we leave the Spa Saturday, mid-day, then take a Nature Air flight to San Jose, spend the night in San Jose then fly back to San Diego early morning. We have been staying in the same little hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica (10 minutes away from the SJO International Airport). We can give you some recommendations if needed. If you do have energy after a full week of adventures, you could go and explore San Jose’s beautiful city churches, and street markets for souvenirs.
What to Bring:
Hat, Sunscreen, closed toe shoes for hiking, a long sleeve shirt or two, bathing suit, yoga attire and some other outfits to wear out, when in town.
Exchange some Dollars to Colones. Even though they have atm machines and banks and they do accept dollars, it’s easier to just have some Colones ready to use once you get there. Horton Plaza has a place where you can do a money exchange.
